Trip 076 - Winter Routburn (Falls Hut)

TRIP GRADE: All (3-4 hours to Falls Hut)

The first winter OTMC trip to the Routeburn was in 1975, and since then a winter or spring trip became an almost annual trip for many years.

The early trips were standard tramping or climbing weekends, with parties do different trips. This included camping out in the likes of the Valley Of The Trolls or Lake Harris to access Lake Wilson, Mt Erebus or 6274 (now Mt Xenicous)

Wolfgang Gerber made the Winter Routeburn trip his own with many themed trips complete with a quiz night to either Falls or Mackenzie.

Wolfie will be in the thoughts of many on this trip, being the first one without him.
